We went over to Nicky and Brian’s today to celebrate Nicky’s dads birthday.  As it is still freezing cold and there are a lot of us we decided to make bbq beef stew.  Stew is a great for a lot of people as essentially once you have browned the meat it is a case of putting into the oven for a few hours and letting it cook away.  The bbq flavour really gives interest and the scones on the top are so moreish.  We made a huge batch and it all got eaten because its difficult to stop eating.  Jo made a gorgeous coffee cake which was a lovely way to end the celebrations.
