Just to completely OD on beef this weekend we had a stew.  It is cold and we wanted comfort and warmth and so made a Guinness and beef stew with dumplings and creamy colcannon.

The beef stew is a recipe I have been working on and testing and finally I think we have a winner, it was rich and deep and just beautiful.  The family all love dumplings and so were absolutely insistent we had dumplings despite the fact I wanted mash.  All it meant was all of us deciding to have both dumplings and mash and then not wanting to move afterwards because we had all overeaten so much. That makes me happy, I do like feeding people.  No, wait, I LOVE feeding people, it makes me very happy.
