Hennie’s sweetcorn

Serves 4 as a side

Preparation time: 10 minutes
Marinating time:
2 - 4 hours 
Cooking time:
20 minutes

Ingredients
4 whole sweetcorn 
100g butter 
1 tbsp worcester sout spice * 
1 tbsp paprika 
½ tsp sugar 
Juice of ½ lemon 

* if you do not have worcester sout spice then use 2 tsps of any paprika heavy spice and 1 tsp of worcestershire sauce 

Method
Put the corn into a clean carrier bag, seal so there are no gaps and microwave for 5-7 minutes depending on the wattage of your microwave.  You want the corn to be just cooked so put on for 5 minutes and see how they are.  If they are still pale and not quite there put in for another minutes.  I know mine is done when I can smell sweetcorn, as soon as this happens I stop the microwave. 

Remove the corn from the bag and put to one side to cool.  Meanwhile melt the butter and when melted, add the remaining ingredients and mix together. 

The corn should now be cool enough to handle. Cut into half both horizontally and vertically so you have 4 fairly equal parts. 

With a pastry brush, brush the corn all over with the lavoured butter and put to one side to marinate.  To cook, either cook on your braai (BBQ) for 5-10 minutes until nicely charred or under your grill if the weather is not so good. 

Enjoy hot.
