The last time we were in Cornwall the drive back was horrendous, huge amounts of traffic, accidents and at some stops not enough chargers for the demand.  I know I was really really sick when we came back last time which made it worse but I really could not face another dreadful journey.  This time we chose to come roughly half way home and stop overnight to break it up - just in case the road was bad.

Rhona was looking for somewhere to stay and just happened to come across a South African run hotel and restaurant, The Chapter House in Salisbury and so it seemed like the perfect stop - no it was.

The hotel was really old and quite quirky with low beams and was gorgeous.  The staff were absolutely amazing and the food, the food was even better.

We had a South African sharing board which had boerewors, bobotie, pap and chakalaka (not the same as we make, it was the ones with lots of beans in), ribs and monkey gland sauce and we also got the Trinchada which I have never had before. If you ever find yourself in Salisbury then hunt this place out and get the Trinchada, it was amazing.  It had a gorgeous deep rich tomato sauce with just the right amount of spice (we did not need the additional chillies), the beef was so soft and so tasty and this was the dish of the day. I am so glad we broke it up, we left Cornwall at about 11 and arrived about 3 and by the time we arrived I was very over sitting in a car. I can’t quite understand how going to Cornwall is fine but coming home not. Maybe because we set off earlier. No clue really but this was just the pit stop we needed.
