I have had some bananas on the side for a few weeks now that are way beyond their best for eating but absolutely perfect for banana bread.  Saturday I made a walnut and banana bread in a slight change from pecans as I wanted to see if other nuts would be as good and I did not have pecans and want to use what I have in the house.  I guess somewhat obviously they worked perfectly and it is utterly delicious.  I decided not to put them on the top because the actual loaf takes some time to cook and the top nuts have a habit of going just a little too dark.

This morning I was making tea and had very little energy and remembered the banana bread. Slightly salted butter is delicious on it I have to say and I could not help but smile by the time I finished it.  Sometimes (no often) it really is the little things that make you smile and feel better.
