Tonight we decided to go out for something to eat at one of our local restaurants that takes about 5 minutes to walk to, Qissa. I love that it is clean and the food always piping hot and really tasty. It is nice to not cook, really nice to have no distractions and just be able to catch up and chat properly. We started with poppadoms and chutneys with a beer (shandy for me), then we had an onion bhaji which was lovely and crispy outside and soft and wonderful within.
For mains we had the Qissa special prawns which is a dish of gorgeous fat prawns in a creamy spiced sauce and we had these super spicy firecracker prawns, a very lime leaf heavy spiced jumbo prawn dish. These dishes are both so so good, I love lime leaves. The two dishes compliment each other so well because one prawn is so spicy and the other slightly sweet so when one is a bit much, you have the wonderful sauce to help temper the heat. The gorgeous sauce moped up with buttery naan is just a wonderful thing.
Now, as wonderful as these savoury dishes are, the desserts are bought in and just not worth the calories so on our way home we stopped at the shop and grabbed a magnum which was a lovely end to a lovely evening.
