Today we made The Caffe Rojano Quattro Formaggi Burger, from For The Love of Food by Paul Ainsworth
The family all came over and as burgers are loved so much by my babies I thought I would make these.
They were really popular with everybody but me, not because they weren’t absolutely delicious because they were, but I have a problem with burgers that are too large to get a bit of everything you put on as they are just too high. The taste was good but eating it for me was difficult. Victoria also said she felt she needed a bit of everything and couldn’t get it all in a mouthful easily. The boys had no issue and loved them very much. Matt loved the ‘pizza burger’. Everybody liked the salami on the cheese, it made a nice change from bacon.
The burger patties were 200g each - Rhona and I don’t generally eat such large patties and I would have preferred them smaller.
The onion rings were gorgeous, I cooked them in batches and kept them hot in the oven, I used corn oil not olive oil and I only used 1 onion as my white onion was large and it made quite a few onion rings. We all agreed we could have eaten a vat of them.
I did follow the recipe and the burgers were in the fridge for about 6 hours.
The cheese did not melt in 2½ mins in the oven and the salami took longer than 30 seconds to warm through. The cheese mix was very nice, this mix I would definitely use again.
This was perfect for our family get together and I loved all the appreciative mmmm noises and the laughter and joy good food provides. They were delicious and were a hit but I probably would not repeat.
