Frank's Restaurant & Mussel Bar
We went to Frank’s Restaurant to celebrate my birthday, we all love seafood and this was somewhere not too far away that had rave reviews and so seemed perfect.
West Malling is a beautiful little village just East of Sevenoaks with pubs, restaurants, coffee shops, plenty of parking and a train station. For a small village it has a lot going on with a great vibe to it.
The building of Franks is an old 16th Century bakery so has that historical oldey worldy feel with its dark wood everywhere and Franks certainly fitted in here. I was not too sure what to expect but with so many great reviews I thought that so many people could not be wrong. Luckily for me they were not
Every dish was delicious and cooked beautifully, the staff were very good and I would definitely return.
The mussels are clearly very popular and so are very fresh and plump and available in 22 different ways. (There is also meat and seafood on the menu but since it is a mussel bar and because the mussels looked and smelt so good it felt wrong to look at anything else and honestly, moules and frites? Don’t mind if I do.)
I had the Thai red curry mussels (which were the dish of the table in my opinion because somehow the Thai curry stops the mussels being quite so rich) followed by the crème brulee , Victoria had the chorizo, tomato, garlic and chilli followed by the warm chocolate brownie, Rhona the Belgian Congo followed by ice cream and sorbet and Matt decided to order the special of the day which was lobster and mussel linguine followed by the toffee and cream waffle.
