Yesterday I had an email from Nespresso saying how they have plans to be carbon neutral by 2022.  I read about how the used ground coffee can be put into compost bins which if you have is great.  I don’t have but since I was planning on making Jan Braai’s spiced coffee steak I thought I would use the coffee from my morning coffee in the rub instead of the usual instant I use.  What a difference it made.  The coffee was absolutely perfect because the taste was stronger and so much nicer.

If you have never had coffee rubbed steak you absolutely must try it, it is a match made in heaven - especially when the steak is cooked over coal on the braai.  You char the steak, cover the spiced coffee rub on it and put it back on and finish cooking it and finish with butter.  Matt described the steak as ‘epic’. Served with potato salad and a crisp green salad it is perfect

I learnt a few months ago how good steak cooks when you cook for a few mins, take off and rest, put back on, rest.  The steak cooks so well and is so much juicier.
