We have wanted to go to Nathan Outlaws restaurant for quite some time and have had our trip cancelled many times for various reasons - the last one being COVID. So, knowing he is closing this restaurant we have finally got this booked in. I love a good road trip. So we left 7:30am and got on the road and had quite a good trip up, stopping for lunch and then pushing on. We arrived in Port Isaac to torrential rain and were absolutely soaking, which was a shame as we had a gorgeous sea view room.
After arriving the wind picked up and by the time we went over to The Mote for dinner they were gale forced. We were blown over to the restaurant and were soaking when we got in. The food was nice, I could not decide between fish and chips and seafood linguine and honestly I think I picked wrong. The fish and chips were ok but Rhona and Natalie’s mussels were much much nicer.
The chips were delicious, they were sweet and crispy and delicious and the fish had a tempura batter so not as gnarly as I love on batter although still nice. The tartare sauce was good, the mushy peas horrible.
Still it was a lovely low key relaxed dinner and the staff are lovely.
