2nd December 2021

I have been reading Advent and have been intrigued by the bunter teller tradition.  The bunter teller basically translates directly as colourful plate and is a plate that is filled with baked treats, sweets, tangerines or clementine's, marzipans and other goodies over the advent period.  The bunter teller is offered to friends and family who stop by.

A small bunter teller would also be left with a boot by children as an offering to St Nicholas on the eve of 5th December. Children  who have been well behaved can expect their boot to be filled.  Children who have been not very well behaved through the year would fear receiving a stick - much like the coal that is threatened in the UK.

It is such a lovely idea and the book starts with baked treats that you could bake a large batch of early in advent and still enjoy at the end of advent.
